Master Builders in Wood

Located in the heart of the Hardangerfjord on the West Coast of Norway, the company draws on the local boatbuilding traditions
dating back more than a thousand years. From this region the Vikings got many of their splendid vessels, and even today the area is alive with boat building projects as diverse as high speed passenger catamarans and historical restorations of wood and steel ships.
The next door neighbor is the maritime museum, specialising in the preservation of wooden trading vessels; further down the road one finds the school for builders of wooden boats.
Kristian Djupevåg, the shipyard's Chief Executive Officer, is second generation in the 55 year history of the company. Today, the next generation is working as master craftsmen, carrying on the family tradition of boatbuilding.
Over the last 20 years the company has been recognized as the expert builders of Colin Archer double enders adapted for cruising, and has been given responsibility for a number of high quality restoration projects; some of them for the Norwegian Maritime Museum.
